Back-to-School Books

Back-to-School Books

As Summer comes to an end, parents prepare their back-to-school supply lists and plan for their more structured routines. Whether a child is going off to school for the first time or returning for another year, this can be an exciting, challenging, and emotional time. At All About Books we are here to help you find books to ease this transition and to foster a love of learning!

For parents and caregivers, the key lies in fostering a transition that wraps your child in comfort and empowerment. Reading books with your child can help them see a different perspective, expose them to new experiences, and help them make connections to their own life. Taking the time to read every day with your child encourages bonding and provides a safe space for them to share their thoughts and feelings. While it can be scary, going back to school should be a fun and exhilarating experience! Here are a few recommendations for titles you can read together to prepare for this adventure:

Stock up on this one before it’s gone! A perfect for those just getting started, First Time: School by Jan Lewis encourages further dialogue between child and reader.

One of our newest board books, I Want to Be… a Teacher by Becky Davies lets little ones explore a day in the life of a teacher and at the end the reader is presented with an interactive mirror, offering a glimpse of representation, and fostering imagination.
