Welcoming a baby into your life can be both a joyous and intimidating experience. It’s bringing in a new person who needs to be cared for, fed, loved, and ensuring their safety while they grow. When discussing those fears and concerns with new parents, a great way to encourage healthy habits and parent-child bonding is with a book, first and foremost, but also a book that provides loving affirmations and light instruction. The Love Baby Healthy books provide that instruction alongside the beautiful illustrations, making them the perfect tool to send home with new parents. In the newest addition to the series, Bedtime, Baby, Safe and Sound, safe sleep habits are demonstrated from a baby’s point of view.
The series, written by Dr. John Hutton, a pediatrician and author, has blended in digestible information on safe sleep techniques, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and CDC, with the illustrations provided by Leah Busch Rockel. This duo has come together to create an updated version of their other title Sleep Baby, Safe and Snug, a favorite among hospitals and NICUs across the country.
This story is a wonderful addition to a newborn’s library and can also be used as a book to read with siblings before bringing a baby home. In an effort to play with their new sibling, toddlers and young children may be tempted to cover a baby with a blanket or share a stuffed animal in their crib. While this is very sweet and a kind gesture, it’s not the safest for a newborn. Reading this book together before bringing home a new baby can gently teach and encourage those safe sleep habits for everyone in the family, answering questions that curious toddlers may ask.
This book is available on the All About Books website now in both English and Spanish-English Bilingual and will be available in our catalog starting in January 2025. If you have any questions about the title, reach out to our team at service@allaboutbooks.org.
