Empowering Early Literacy: Supporting Literacy Events and Initiatives

Empowering Early Literacy: Supporting Literacy Events and Initiatives
Testimonial
All About Books loves to travel to our customers' conferences and events.  Especially in this post-Covid era, seeing people in person and showcasing our new arrivals is just as fun as it is important.  It's so rewarding to see the people that we email and talk to over the phone and have in person opportunities to better learn our customers' needs and figure out ways to help solve their problems.

Sarah Pelkey, Director of Sales and Marketing for All About Books

Reach Out & Read San Diego Read and Romp Fundraiser:

All About Books has long been partnered with Reach Out and Read San Diego.  This past April we had the opportunity to support their 14th annual Read and Romp family event where children and caregivers participated in outdoor activities that encouraged a love of reading together.  Children received a book to take home courtesy of All About Books.

Reach Out and Read San Diego provides over 160,000 books and impacts over 113,000 children annually in 97 San Diego County sites and is a literacy program of the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  While we could not attend in person, we loved seeing the pictures from the event and hope to someday be there in person! - Sarah, Director of Sales and Marketing

Reach Out & Read Kansas City For the Love of Books Fundraiser:

Reach Out and Read Kansas City annually provides over 60,000 books to 27,000 children and families in pediatric clinics throughout the Greater Kansas City metro area. They aim to build a stronger community, empower parents, and prepare children for Kindergarten.  This past April, All About Books supported this event and we plan also to support their fall event as well. While we could not attend in person, we loved seeing the pictures from the event and hope to someday be there in person! - Sarah, Director of Sales and Marketing

Reach Out & Read Alabama 11th Grand Pentathlon:

Initially conceived by Alabama Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics member Grant Allen, MD, FAAP, the Grand Pediatric Pentathlon has grown to be Reach Out and Read Alabama’s signature fundraising event at the Alabama Chapter-AAP's Spring Meeting.  This past year was the 11th year of this event.  Participants can compete in five different events (kayaking, walking/running, bicycling, swimming, and reading), all while raising money for a great community cause.

We were thrilled to once again support the Grand Pediatric Pentathlon as the Storybook Sponsor, a fantastic event that makes a profound impact on children throughout Alabama. Partnering with Reach Out and Read Alabama in promoting early literacy and ensuring every child has access to books is truly an honor for us. While we couldn't be there in person, we were delighted to see the event photos and look forward to being there in person in the future! - Sarah, Director of Sales and Marketing

National Smart Start Conference:

Smart Start has implemented their mission since 1993, working closely with 75 local partnerships in all 100 counties of North Carolina. This organization unites everyone in a child’s life to ensure they are given the opportunity to reach their full potential in school and life success. Held each year in Greensboro, North Carolina, Sarah Pelkey, and I had the pleasure of attending this successful trip. All About Books was honored to be a sponsor again this year! Our current customers were delighted to make in-person connections, and prospective customers were elated to have discovered us! We had several visitors who absolutely loved our prescription pads for reading, and everyone was excited to receive the bookmarks and tote bags that we offered along with our catalog. This community was thrilled to see the number of Spanish-English bilingual titles available, including some Spanish-only titles, such as ¡Gracias, Omu! (Thank You, Omu!). Many people commented on Alma, Head to Toe/Alma, de pies a cabeza, Your Special Voice, and Hello Shapes: Triangles (Tyvek). Overall, it was a promising and inspiring day, I left feeling confident in the driving force that is Smart Start partnering together with All About Books to make an impact on early childhood literacy. - Halle, Sales Associate

ParentChild+ Conference:

We are very excited to see the return of the ParentChild+ conference! The ParentChild+ program focuses on home visits, working with families, caregivers, and early learning specialists to prepare children for kindergarten. During the virtual conference, the 3-day lineup was jam-packed with sessions and a block of time to visit with us as vendors. In the time Brittany and I had in the virtual rooms, we had great one-on-one time to talk about diversity in children’s books and answer questions about us and ordering on our website. It will be exciting to see ParentChild+ programs continue to grow and expand throughout the country over the year before the in-person conference next Spring!  - Paige, Marketing Manager

Reach Out & Read Minnesota Annual Breakfast Fundraiser:

Being able to support Reach Out and Read Minnesota's annual Spring Benefit Breakfast is truly a privilege. This gathering unites leaders from various sectors in Minnesota, including healthcare, early childhood education, government, libraries, and children's book publishers. Together, they share a common belief: the simple act of storytelling with a loved one has the power to positively impact a child's life. While we may not have been able to attend in person, we are committed to continuing our support for this incredible initiative.

Reach Out & Read Illinois Meeting and Fundraiser:

Attending the Site Support Meeting and Fundraiser in May was a wonderful experience. The agenda was filled with exciting activities like Exploring Books, informative sessions such as Stories Screens & Synapses with Dr. John Hutton, and engaging discussions. Finally meeting the individuals I've been in contact with was a highlight. Witnessing the impactful outreach efforts of Illinois and the growth in the number of children served each year was truly motivating. As a key book vendor supporting the Reach Out and Read Program, I am grateful for the opportunity to help provide books to these children through dedicated providers. - Natalie, Senior Sales Account Manager

Reach Out & Read Colorado Annual Fundraiser:

Participating in the annual fundraiser brings us immense joy, especially when we see our books showcased! As the exclusive book vendor for Reach Out and Read Colorado sites, we are dedicated to fully supporting this event, ensuring that the sites always have our steadfast backing. Together – through sponsorship, in-kind donations, community partnerships and charitable donations – ROR CO raised enough to prescribe high-quality books and literacy guidance at 18,500 well-child visits this year! - Natalie, Senior Sales Account Manager
